Job Summary
The Neuropsychiatry Outpatients' Team has great pleasure in seeking a Band 3 Clinical Support Assistant to join our existing team, based at Walkergate Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne. We are a regional service predominantly covering the Northeast of England and Cumbria.
This post provides a rare and exciting opportunity to join an established Multidisciplinary Team working in the sometimes challenging but rewarding environment of Neuropsychiatry. You will work closely with the Community Practitioners and on occasions other professionals to provide community-based person-centred plans of care. You will support people who present with a broad range of complex and varied conditions, including, but not exclusively, Traumatic and Acquired Brain Injury, Tourette's, Huntington's Disease and Parkinson's.
You will work in a highly supportive environment and will be provided with regular supervision. As a regional service, you will need to meet the mobility and geographical requirements of the post.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Work autonomously, implement and follow plans of care, developed in collaboration with service users, families/carers, and members of the multidisciplinary team.
2. Contribute effectively to clinical discussions reporting concerns and changes to risks in a timely manner.
3. Document clinical notes meeting Trust record keeping standards.
4. Develop interpersonal and communication skills that promote and maintain therapeutic relationships with service users, their families, and carers.
5. Provide compassionate care based on empathy, kindness, respect, and dignity.
6. Use de-escalation skills when working in potentially antagonistic, hostile, and emotive clinical situations to ensure the safety of self, service users, and others.
7. Be responsible for making onward referrals to other services and liaising with appropriate regional organisations in placing orders for equipment to meet service user needs.
8. Have a flexible approach to the role to meet the changing service demands as the service model develops.
9. Participate in training as identified as appropriate to the job role.
10. Actively engage with supervision and appraisal process as identified in Trust policy.
11. Need to meet the mobility and geographical requirements of the post.
