We are supporting local SEN units, to recruit Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants - specifically, this is to work in one of our North Yorkshire, Special Schools. The right candidates will have a strong understanding and experience of working with students with Learning and Behavioural difficulties, including Asperger’s Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
This role is to start in September on a full time ongoing basis with the possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidates.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be given an opportunity to make a positive impact on some of the most at-risk students in the area and to provide 1:1 support for a child to progress to the next stages of their education. Who are we looking for?
A successful candidate would:
1. Have experience in an educational setting either in mainstream schools or any other alternative provision.
2. A history of working with students with challenging behaviour.
3. A confident, caring, and assertive personality
What to expect?
4. Working in this setting requires patience, confidence, and a caring attitude as the student has complex social, emotional, and mental health issues which need to be managed.
5. The student has difficulties in displaying these emotions in a productive way so the use of Team Teach positive behaviour management strategies may be needed.
6. The student will require positive re enforcement from you when they display good behaviours.
Requirements:
7. Previous experience supporting pupils with a Education and Health Care Plan
8. Two satisfactory references
9. A valid DBS certificate subscribed to the update service, or be willing to obtain one
