Senior Test Engineer - Bolton - £50K
Working within the manufacturing engineering team, the senior test engineer’s primary role is to provide manufacturing test hardware support for PCBA’s, sub-assemblies, modules, and final assemblies. This role also involves the support of existing manufacturing test equipment as well as the design and production of new test solutions.
Role Responsibilities
1. Produce manufacturing test strategies for PCBA, Module, and Final assemblies.
2. Provide test specifications to support new products, modules, and assemblies.
3. Design appropriate test fixtures and equipment for PCBA, sub-assemblies, modules, and final assembly.
4. Support existing test equipment both on-site and with suppliers.
5. Specify parts, assemble, validate, and maintain manufacturing test equipment.
6. Develop a close relationship with the design engineering team to direct design for manufacture/test.
7. Support legacy software tools and databases.
8. Assist with prototype builds and NPI; provide feedback on design for assembly/test issues to the engineering design team.
9. Provide support for manufacturing test; assist in diagnostics and failure analysis.
10. Conduct fault analysis to component level.
11. Perform data analysis to identify fault trends and prioritize corrective actions.
12. Identify test escapes and implement fixes.
13. Provide work instructions to support product test and configuration.
Skills
1. Must have excellent IT productivity tool knowledge (MS Office tools, Excel, Word, etc).
2. Good written and communication skills.
3. Demonstrable understanding of electronic principles.
4. Experience of debugging electronic circuits down to component level.
5. Knowledge and experience of LabView is an advantage.
6. Core coding skills (i.e., Python, XML, C#, C++).
7. Able to demonstrate an ability for problem-solving.
8. Proficient data analysis skills.
9. Self-motivated and able to work alone or in a team environment.
10. Experience of electronics CAD systems is essential; Mechanical CAD is desirable.
11. Lean and Six Sigma training is desirable.
