Axcis Education is partnering with a primary school in the Odd Down area of Bath to recruit a dedicated Autism Support Worker.
Role Overview:
As an Autism Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in assisting students with Autism within the school's specialist centre. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Providing tailored support to students with Autism, ensuring their needs are met in line with their individual education plans (IEPs).
2. Assisting with the delivery of structured activities and supporting children in class and during extracurricular activities.
3. Promoting independence, social interaction, and communication skills.
4. Helping manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a positive and proactive manner.
5. Collaborating with teachers and other staff to ensure the best outcomes for each student.
Requirements:
1. Experience working with children or young people with Autism or special educational needs is desirable.
2. A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach.
3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
4. An understanding of Autism and strategies to support children with communication, sensory, and behavioural challenges.
Additional Information:
1. Start Date: January 2025
2. Contract Type: Full-time, permanent after an initial settling-in period
3. Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
4. Pay: £83.40 per day
5. Location: Odd Down, Bath
