Job Description
A permanent staff position (full-time office based) with an upstream Oil & Gas client in Aberdeen. Full rights to work in the UK only.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead the planning and implementation of the local Process Hazards Analysis programmes including chairing PHAs and/or identifying appropriate resource to chair;
2. Lead LOPAs (Level of Protection Analysis), HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) and HAZID (Hazard Identification) reviews (in response to Asset or Project demand);
3. Lead root cause investigations for process safety related incidents making considered recommendations to Asset Management addressing both immediate and underlying/root causes;
4. Identify opportunities to improve SHE, availability, variable cost and fixed cost;
5. Prepare detailed project study reports to ensure accurate project proposals;
6. Support the review and update of the local area COMAH and Offshore Safety Case reports to meet legislative requirements;
7. Coach/mentor less experienced engineers to ensure technical safety issues are addressed as part of design and operational processes;
8. Act as focal point for FPS North Management of Change process;
9. Participate in the FPS incident management team as required;
10. Travel to Offshore Platforms or remote onshore sites to provide technical support;
11. Support planned and unplanned outages as needed.
Specific Requirements:
1. Chemical engineering Degree with or working towards a Postgraduate Qualification in Safety and Risk Management;
2. Chartered Engineer or actively working to achieve chartered status;
3. Significant experience including experience in Oil & Gas, Refining or Chemical Industries;
4. Demonstrable experience of providing Technical Safety Engineering support to on and offshore operations, including subsea and onshore overland pipelines;
5. Significant experience of safety and risk assessment methods and safety management;
6. Experienced in leading HAZOPs and PHAs;
7. Proficient with management of change processes;
8. Excellent communication skills with the ability to create relationships with stakeholders and 3rd party specialists;
9. Up to date knowledge of Offshore and Onshore Legislation and Regulations;
10. Strong awareness of human factors influence on process safety.
