The company:
Our client is a leader in providing engineered solutions to the energy and renewable energy sectors, including those in Hydrogen, Carbon Capture, and waste energy.
Their team designs and fabricates a variety of mechanical components, including structural supports, heat exchangers, housing enclosures, exhaust systems, ventilation, and ducting.
The UK arm of the business currently employs around 30 members of staff, with 50% of the team being Design and Projects Engineers. Internationally, the company employs over 800 members of staff, largely across their manufacturing sites in Europe.
As a business, they are experiencing growth and a consistent large volume of incoming projects globally within growing industries, which has seen their turnover grow from £30 million in 2018 to £80 million in 2023. As such, they are looking to expand their design team to allow them to run additional projects simultaneously.
The Role:
We are looking for a Pressure Vessel Engineer with experience working alongside the design and production of pressure vessels. This role involves ensuring the integrity of pressure vessels through rigorous calculations and technical file preparation for submission to Notified Bodies.
Your Responsibilities will include:
1. Verify integrity of pressure vessels and manufactured items.
2. Produce calculations and technical documentation.
3. Identify vessels falling under the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU (PED).
4. Evaluate hazard analysis, Essential Safety Requirements (ESR), and Particular Material Appraisal (PMA).
5. Benchmark and evaluate drawing work by less experienced team members.
6. Approve and check details on production drawings.
7. Responsible for design calculations, analysis, and evaluation.
8. Carry out hand calculations.
9. Review updates to pressure vessel standards and ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
1. Mechanical Engineering Degree.
2. Previous experience in mechanical design engineering.
3. Proficiency in PD5500, BS EN 13445, or ASME VIII vessel design standards.
4. Experience with both PV Elite and hand calculations.
