You will work alongside a talented, supportive team of engineers and designers that are passionate about innovation and contribute to cutting-edge projects that benefit our customers and the world. We aim to expose our interns to these projects in the best way to help develop their ability and create a challenging but rewarding experience. Alongside engineering, medmix UK runs a full manufacturing facility in house, for products within the 'Industry' portfolio. Therefore the placement will afford the intern the ability to witness and work with other roles to gain experience of the full product lifecycle.
Job Description
1. Ensure and promote a safe work environment and safe working practices
2. Actively engage in medmix safe behaviours program
3. Support the new product development of handheld manual, pneumatic and cordless dispensing equipment from concept to production.
4. Use of CAD tools to support the design of new products with production of 3D models/assemblies and associated 2D technical drawings.
5. Production of technical design documentation in line with NPI requirements.
6. Assist sales/product management in production of technical feasibility studies and product proposal documentation.
7. Assist in prototype manufacture through definition of in-house and outsourced processes.
8. Assist in test and verification of products
9. Work with UK development teams to improve existing products through continuous improvement programs.
10. Communicate effectively with stakeholders within engineering team.
Qualifications
1. Actively working towards an engineering degree, in product design engineering, industrial design engineering or mechanical engineering.
2. A proactive, enthusiastic and self-motivated attitude, with the ability to work individually and as part of a cross functional team.
3. A creative mindset, with a passion to explore new ideas and methods in pursuit of developing new solutions to problems.
4. A sound grasp of fundamental engineering principles.
5. Experience of designing for multiple manufacturing methods, including additive manufacturing.
6. A practical individual, comfortable in building and testing product designs throughout the development process.
7. Ability to write technical documents for publication is desirable.
8. Good verbal communication skills; experience presenting technical subject matter to non-technical audiences desirable.
