Environmental AdvisorCELSA UK – Cardiff Salary range £28,000-35,000 + 5% bonusAs an Environmental Advisor at CELSA UK you will directly support one or more of our operational units with their Environmental Management Systems (EMS) compliance and permit requirements. You will be the main point of contact for the manufacturing areas, ensuring EMS are maintained and managed across our sites in Cardiff and our scrap yards across the UK.Day to day you will be ensuring that the EMS duties and requirements are implemented with the support of our Environmental Manager.This could also be great opportunity for a graduate who has a passion for the environment and is looking to begin a career in sustainability.Key Tasks & ResponsibilitiesTo ensure specific areas (i.e. up to 2 operational areas of either, Meltshop, Mineral Site, Circular Hubs, Rod & Bar Mill, or Sections Mill) remain compliant and certified to ISO14001 To collate and analyse environmental dataEscalate concerns to the Environment Manager, including permit breachesSupporting the collection of information for investigations into permit breaches and environmental incidentsLead and run the environmental compliance meetings with the relevant areas Challenge and support operational areas to deliver their environmental actions in a timely way Coach operational teams on the requirements of the EMS and Environmental Permit Regulations (EPR)Deliver specific environmental training and awareness to employees External stakeholder engagement through collation and publication of reportsPlanning and scheduling of contracted environmental site workUndertake site audits, EMS audits and duty of care contract auditsFacilitate site audits and certifications with internal and external stakeholdersWrite, review and update procedures inline with document control policySupport the operational units with compliance to the EMS for allocated operational areas Responsible for ensuring clear and specific advice is given to the operational teams on compliance with environmental legislation and requirements directly affecting the areas operationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Good knowledge of ISO14001 Management SystemGood working knowledge of Microsoft packagesExperience in relevant industrial industry Practitioner member of IEMA would be desirableBehavioural Competencies The Environmental Advisor must be able to challenge, and set a sense of urgency when requiredSelf-motivated, and has a passion for the environment Be able to prioritise and escalate issues as requiredDevelop positive relationships with colleagues as the supplier of an internal serviceAbility to demonstrate CELSA’s valuesSome of our benefits include…25 days holiday (plus bank holidays)Healthcare Cashback planLife insurance policy at 3x your salaryReferral schemeAccess to salary sacrifice initiatives such Cycle to Work & Electric Vehicles (EV) Flexi Working SchemeFree onsite parkingAccess to a benefit portal with discounts from hundreds of retailers, gyms, restaurants and destinations as well as access to financial advice.Work from home once a weekThis role will require a full UK driving licenseYou’ll be joining a recycling company – we recycle scrap metal into new steel products.
