We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide specialised support for pupils with special educational needs and complex health care requirements. This role involves working under the direction of a Teacher or Line Manager to ensure pupil's safety and access to learning activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide individualised support for pupils with special educational needs, ensuring their integration into the next educational provision.
* Carry out medical procedures such as administering medication, specialist feeding programs, and suctioning procedures after appropriate training.
* Assist with personal needs including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters.
* Prepare classrooms and resources for lessons and assist with displaying pupil work.
* Report pupil problems or behavioural difficulties to the teacher or line manager.
* Contribute to individual behaviour/education plans and provide routine information to parents/carers.
* Promote health and safety, adhering to safeguarding policies and practices.
Requirements:
* Essential Qualifications:
o Level 2 Numeracy/Literacy or willingness to work towards this.
o Ability to undertake training in identified areas (e.g., medical procedures, first aid).
* Desirable Qualifications:
o Supporting Pupils with S.E.N. L3 or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 3.
* Experience:
o Working with children, preferably in a school or special school environment.
* Skills:
o Good communication and interpersonal skills.
o Ability to work with children with special educational needs and adults.
o Teamwork and initiative skills.
Working Conditions:
* The role involves direct contact with pupils, which may include exposure to challenging behaviours and emotional demands.
* Periodic physical effort may be required (e.g., lifting or working on the floor).
