About the School
Our client is a specialist school that provides highly effective education, therapy, welfare, and support for children and young people aged 6 to 19 with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH), as well as other complex needs.
With three dedicated sites, the school delivers a structured and individualised education programme tailored to each student’s specific requirements, taking into account their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Teaching is delivered in small groups or on a one-to-one basis by fully qualified teachers and instructors, ensuring a supportive and personalised approach to learning.
The Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and inspirational Head of Maths to lead and develop the mathematics department. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the curriculum, support staff development, and ensure that students receive high-quality, engaging maths education tailored to their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Maths department, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality and engaging curriculum.
* Plan and implement effective teaching strategies that meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH and complex needs.
* Support and mentor teaching staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
* Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching methods to maximise learning outcomes.
* Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to drive school-wide improvement.
* Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong background in teaching mathematics.
* Experience working with students with SEMH and additional learning needs (desirable but not essential).
* A track record of raising attainment and leading successful curriculum development.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire both students and staff.
* A commitment to inclusive education and a passion for making a difference.
