The role of the SLT is to provide a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to people with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs. This role sits within the Inpatient Adult Mental Health Service in Notts Healthcare. You will be working with adults who have/experience Mental Health difficulties, Personality Disorder, Neurodivergent presentations & Intellectual Disabilities.
The role requires a high level of clinical and professional expertise in order that the population can benefit from a well-coordinated, pro-active, specialist, efficient and effective SLT service. The role remit includes individual assessment, diagnosis, therapy and management, training, advice & liaison. The post holder will have a mixed caseload of Dysphagia and Communication cases.
We would welcome applicants who are Dysphagia competent but who do not have extensive experience of the mental health population. Pay would reflect level of experience.
Main duties of the job:
1. To be autonomous and responsible for the assessment, formulation and management of a complex clinical caseload ensuring practice is in line with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist's Position Paper and Quality Guidelines.
2. To coordinate access to speech and language therapy for both Dysphagia and Communication referrals across 2 inpatient mental health hospital sites (Highbury Hospital & Sherwood Oaks).
3. To implement the 5 Good Communication standards.
4. To represent the Speech and Language Therapy service at agreed forums as required.
5. To share responsibility for the mentoring, supervision and management of junior speech and language therapists, assistant speech and language therapists and students (as required & appropriate).

Qualifications & Training:

* Recognised SLT Degree/diploma.
* RCSLT Registered, HCPC Registered.
* Dysphagia Trained.

* Portfolio of relevant post qualification CPD - Communication & Dysphagia.
* Post-graduate training specific to population.
