Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday on a shift rota basis.
Employment type: Full-time, Permanent. Are you a calm, caring and a resilient person, who thrives on helping others to achieve?
Are you able to keep calm in a crisis, be proactive in your approach, and put the people you support at the centre of everything you do?
Do you have experience with behaviours that challenge?
If you have answered yes to the above, you could be exactly what we are looking for.
Come and be part of something extraordinary!
We are on the lookout for Support Workers who are calm, patient, and resilient and have experience with supporting someone who displays behaviours that challenge. You will preferably be able to drive and have a consistent approach to assisting people to engage in the interests they love.
You will have a positive attitude and be open minded, paired with a forward-thinking approach and a good sense of humour. You will be able to work 37.5 hours per week on a shift rota basis, covering early, late and weekend shifts.
Who will you be supporting?
I will soon be living in my own apartment in Leatherhead.
Experience in supporting someone like me, a man who displays challenging behaviour and suffers from high levels of anxiety would be a strong advantage. I am looking for calm assertive Support Workers with a great sense of humour to join my team.
I love being out and about in the community, going to the beach and walking along the sea front is one of my favourite things to do. I enjoy swimming and water-based activities, listening to music, dancing, and I love attending social gatherings.
I struggle with change and unpredictability and need a clear routine and plan for the day. I need my team to be consistent and confident, offering information and choice in a non-demanding way.
Due to my high levels of trauma related anxiety, I need my staff team to give me their full support and remain emotionally resilient throughout the day. I may communicate my confusion, anxiety, and distress with physically aggressive behaviour towards others’ property. I also can display other forms of challenging behaviour, but this should not stop me from leading the life I want to. I would love for people to join my team who have similar interests.
You will encourage me to learn life skills and gain independence but that’s something everyone needs at times. I ask for your patience, confidence, and ability to see the value in small gains. You will follow coaching from my behaviour support person and a willingness to help when needed.
If you have worked with individuals who have displayed behaviours that are described as challenging, Spencer Court could be the place for you!
