This role can be fully remote or hybrid (from our Stockbridge, Edinburgh HQ) if you prefer. About our Principal Electrical Engineer role: The Principal Electrical Engineer is a core role within our Engineering and Construction team. This is a varied role leading and supporting assessments and decision-making from the early stages of developments, to managing grid connections, through to site commissioning. Some of the things you may find yourself doing: Providing Engineering and technical services: Collaborating with the team, providing technical input into electrical engineering FEED for renewable technologies and grid connection applications. Inputting into design reviews and helping to resolve design issues. Contributing knowledge of applicable electrical standards and best practice. Contributing knowledge of key electrical component specifications and current prices. Acting as an Owner’s Engineer (OE) at pre-construction and construction phases: Producing detailed electrical design reviews (e.g. single line diagrams, protection diagrams, cable sizing, earthing studies, SCADA and equipment specifications). Visiting sites to ensure works follow the design and are to a high standard. Managing electrical technical queries from contractors. Liaising with network operator/contractor/client for the project’s grid connections at both distribution and transmission level, ensuring compliance with UK Grid Code and other regulations. Managing internal and external technical specialists to deliver high quality deliverable projects. The following experiences and qualifications are required: A degree in electrical engineering. Undertaken the OE role for utility scale renewable energy projects connected at both distribution and transmission. Knowledge of grid code compliance. Strong working knowledge of relevant IEC / BS Standards including BS7671. The following are desirable: Chartered Member of IET. Worked as OE on BESS co-located projects.
