Job Description: Machine Operative
Our client is a leading UK self-adhesive label manufacturer serving industries across the UK, Europe, and beyond. They are currently recruiting for Machine Operatives to join their team based in Scotland. This is a permanent position for the right candidate.
The role primarily involves Rewinding and Slitting; however, the client is willing to train candidates with Machine Operative experience in a manufacturing environment. The main responsibility is to perform final quality control and finishing on printed rolls, preparing them for customer shipment according to specifications.
Responsibilities include:
1. Locating the correct printed reels/products for inspection based on job cards.
2. Performing inspection along with checking print proofs, cores, packaging items, and creating ID labels.
3. Threading the web through the machine following the correct route and setting blades for slitting to finishing specifications.
4. Setting clock/counter for final rolls and adjusting machine tensions for specific materials using controls.
5. Conducting visual checks, identifying print faults, removing waste, and ensuring print quality.
6. Carrying out inspection, slitting, and rewinding of reels to meet final finishing specifications as per job cards.
7. Identifying the correct core size required for each reel.
8. Monitoring product quality and consistency, removing non-conforming products, and managing waste.
9. Packaging finished reels for dispatch, marking boxes with ID codes and quantities as per job tickets.
10. Ensuring proper packing for transportation to minimize damage during transit.
11. Completing all operations and necessary paperwork in accordance with ISO standards outlined in company manuals.
12. Operating the 100% inspection unit / Fleye vision system during rewinding.
13. Adding operator comments professionally to the MIS system if required.
14. Working to strict deadlines while maintaining quality control.
15. Checking other Rewind Inspectors' first reels for quality.
16. Performing daily checks of guards and maintaining blades.
17. Calibrating machines to the correct core size for cutting.
