With a healthy pipeline of live and future projects, this position will be in addition to a very experienced team of design staff. Reporting to the Design Director, this role willmanage all aspects of design from inception to completion, overseeing both internal designers and external consultants to ensure timely, high-quality, and cost-effective project delivery. Key Duties & Responsibilities Oversee design processes for multiple projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines and DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) principles. Work closely with tendering, pre-construction, manufacturing, and delivery teams to meet project goals. Support and advise clients throughout the design and build process. Manage internal and external design resources, mentor junior staff, and foster team development. Organise design meetings, maintain accurate records, and manage design risk assessments. Ensure designs meet Building Regulations, safety standards, and client requirements. Develop and manage design programmes, risk registers, progress trackers, and design reports. Research and develop new construction products and techniques. Monitor compliance with CDM regulations and promote a safe working environment. Requirements 5 years experience working within a design management capacity. Ability to lead, mentor, and develop design teams. Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills. 3rd level qualification in Architectural Technology, Architecture, Building Studies, or equivalent. Strong architectural design and construction knowledge. Proficiency in ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, Revit; knowledge of Solibri is a plus. Familiarity with BIM, BREEAM, Procore CDE, and construction management software is beneficial. In-depth understanding of current Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and CDM 2015 regulations. Strong project management and commercial acumen. Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects under pressure. Adaptable, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement. Sector experience in education, healthcare, or commercial projects (desirable). This role requires an experienced leader with a strong technical background, project management expertise, and the ability to mentor teams while delivering innovative, high-quality design solutions.
