Job Title: Finance Officer Starting Salary: £30,559 progressing to £33,366 Hours: 37.0 Location: Stevenage Contract Type: Permanent Directorate: Adult Care Services About the team Client Finance Team deal with the financial affairs of 560 people. People who require an appointee or deputy to act on their behalf. You will be part of a team responsible for how Client Finance Team performs, meeting standards set in part by the Court of Protection but also by the needs of Adult Care Services for an efficient team that delivers in a timely and professional manner. Client Finance Team provides support to social work professionals who are working with individuals who need help managing their finances - opening bank accounts, making benefit claims, paying bills and arranging personal spending. This involves having strong communication skills as you will be working not only with internal stakeholders but external stakeholders such as banks, Department of Work and Pensions, Court of Protection, solicitors, landlords and utility companies. You will be committed to delivering a high-quality service in a demanding role. You will need to be fully up to date with all IT skills required or will have the proven ability to learn them very quickly. This includes technical financial data as well as having a good understanding of welfare benefit provision and case recording systems. About the role Supporting, advising, monitoring and developing the Finance Assistants within CFT Responsible for monthly reports and stats within Client Finance Team Managing team projects such as consolidation of cases, deceased cases Deliver financial support, undertake administrative tasks and to carry out transactional processes accurately and efficiently within the team as required. Making payments and dealing with peoples' accounts Managing monthly reconciliations Producing invoices for appointee/deputyship fees within Client Finance Team Completing annual OPG supervision fees To have responsibility for specific people, to ensure that HCC's financial and legal duties are carried out carefully and sensitively. About you Essential Experience of working in a financial team Evidence of strong ICT skills including Excel Knowledge of SAP or other equivalent systems Strong communication skills, both verbally and written with the ability to establish strong relationships. Must be self-motivated and able to work in a demanding environment. Working as part of a team and individually To support Senior Finance Officer with any required tasks Proven problem solving skills. Excellent time management and organisational skills Experience of supporting junior staff Desirable Willing to work toward a professional accreditation.
