Nursery Chef
Salary ranging from £28,000 - £30,000 per annum depending on qualifications and experience
40 hours per week
Cherrystone Nursery, part of the Family First Group, is looking for a Nursery Chef to join their team. This role is ideal for someone with previous experience as a Sous Chef or looking to manage a small team within a kitchen environment. You will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting age-appropriate food to high standards in a clean, safe, and pleasant environment. You will work in partnership with the nursery team and parents to support the nursery’s care and education provision, keeping accurate records of supplies and ordering replacements as needed within the nursery budget requirements.
As Nursery Chef, you will:
* Keep the kitchen a clean and safe environment, adhering to internal and external requirements; complete the Kitchen Hygiene Checklist monthly, and ensure that the Cleaning Schedule is complete and prominently displayed in the kitchen.
* Ensure the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene in the nursery and kitchen.
* Prepare and cook enough age-appropriate food for all the children daily, with minimum wastage, based on numbers provided by nursery staff.
* Take responsibility for ensuring all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to the teams.
* Adhere to dietary requirements and personal care routines at all times, including robust measures around the Red, Amber, and Green plate procedures.
* Work in cooperation with the nursery team and parents to encourage a healthy and nutritious diet.
* Ensure that budgetary requirements are met through careful planning of all food orders.
As Nursery Chef, you will need:
* Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirements around food allergies - essential.
* Sound knowledge of COSHH - essential.
* Able to work to a catering budget, avoiding fluctuating standards of food service - essential.
* Experience and qualifications in any role involving cooking in domestic or commercial properties - essential.
* Fluent in written and spoken English at GCSE grade C (or equivalent) - essential.
* Experience and passion for cooking for young children - desirable.
