Goodenough College is recruiting a Senior Maintenance Engineer who must have proven experience of managing and leading a maintenance team to oversee planned preventative maintenance and reactive works, such as M&E assets like boilers and other works in collaboration with the wider Estates team.
The College is an educational charity, providing accommodation to international postgraduate students (we call them Members) and their families in a friendly and collegiate setting on two sites across a picturesque London Square. The College offers a variety of accommodation options from shared single rooms, ensuite rooms and family flats, alongside grand halls, libraries, and common rooms.
The College owns and carries out commercial activities through the nearby 4* Goodenough Hotel. The College also owns a Scottish retreat, The Burn, a 20-bedroomed Mansion House, Listed Grade B operating mainly as an academic retreat for post-graduates, hired out for private bookings, family celebrations and offered as holiday accommodation.
As Senior Maintenance Engineer, you will utilise CAFM to allocate tasks and manage workflows, while proactively reviewing the performance and productivity of the maintenance team. You will attend estates management meetings to review maintenance task delivery and contribute to the development of action plans for continuous improvement. Leading the out-of-hours call-out service, ensuring daily cover is in place, is also a key responsibility. You will oversee the reactive works process, ensuring timely response and closure of requests within agreed timescales. You will report on incidents attended by the maintenance team and support the Technical Services Manager in reviewing and updating standard operating procedures. You will also develop and implement management tools to monitor and report on asset and building performance.
Applicants should have extensive experience in maintaining Building Services. You must have managed a team of maintenance engineers on a site where there are M&E assets such as boilers. A strong understanding of electrical principles, including the ability to interpret schematics and drawings. Essential qualifications include 18th Edition certification, High or low voltage AP, and Testing & Inspecting 2391 certification. You must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service.
