Monday to Sunday 7am-10pm
Monday to Sunday sleep in night support minimum shift length 9 hours
Wage:
£15 per hour Monday -Friday
£17 per hour Saturday & Sunday
£11.44 sleep night per hour
About Me:
I am a 37 year old man and have an acquired brain injury. I currently reside at a rehabilitation centre, I will be moving soon to live at home with my Mum. I enjoy visiting parks, cafes, shops and meeting people.
I use an electric wheelchair which enables me to move around and to access the community with supervision. I have a wheelchair accessible vehicle that allows me to visit places in the community. Applicant’s must have the ability to transport me as the job role will require driving me to and from medical appointments and getting out in the community which is intrinsic to my care and support.
I have a range of difficulties as a result of my injuries including;
• severe movement impairment due to a lack of muscle activity and high tone from my traumatic brain injury.
• Difficulties communicating my wants needs and wishes through speech however I can communicate my basic needs with a total communication approach
• I have difficulties with my thinking and planning skills.
• I have difficulties managing my frustrations at times
I require the assistance of 2 carers 15 hours per day and 1 carer during the night.
Job Description:
A Team of reliable support workers will be required to assist me with all activities of daily living including transfers, managing my continence, washing, dressing and grooming, meal preparation, managing, medication and managing my health with appointment support, socialising with my family and friends, keeping my home clean and tidy, completing laundry, and accessing the local community.
Applicants must be patient, supportive, helpful, caring, and be able to work in a discreet and confident manner and have a good sense of humour. It is important that staff respect my abilities and support me to be my best and most independent in all areas. Being flexible and able to work on your own initiative is also important.
Support will be required Monday- Sunday 7am -10pm 2 carers required per day and sleep night support 7 nights per week. If you are able to cover any of these hours please get in touch, please note we are seeking staff who can deliver a consistent and high number of hours to the support package as I work best with people I know well.
Tasks
• Using specialist equipment to help me participate in washing, dressing, grooming and get changed throughout day enabling me to be part of decisions wherever I can
• Support with managing continence needs throughout the day, this will include cleaning and changing of convene
• Support with meals preparation and clear up, planning of meals and food shopping
• Support with planning the day and activities
• Support with completing activities and exploring new interests
• Support for socialisation and contact with family, friends and peers
• Support light domestic tasks such as cleaning floors, laundry and surface wipe downs
• Managing medication administration in a timely manner to manage my movement difficulties, recording medication, stocks and ordering
• Tracking appointments and supporting with attendance
• Checking equipment and reporting concerns
• Supporting with a maintenance programme of exercises or stretches as able
• Support me to communicate my wants needs and wishes to those around me
• Support to manage and de-escalate any frustrations
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK with no criminal background. Post subject to DBS check.
