The Role
Co-op Academy Failsworth
The Mathematics department at Co-op Academy Failsworth is forward looking and dynamic. Problem solving and reasoning skills are at the core of our curriculum and pupils are afforded the opportunity to master a range of non-routine tasks using creativity, fluency and confidence.
The department is led by an Executive Head of Mathematics who holds overall responsibility and works closely with the Head of Mathematics.
The Mathematics department is proud to be at the forefront of research into mathematics education and has excellent links with Maths Hubs, MEI, and Manchester Metropolitan University.
The Mathematics department requires teachers to be forward-thinking, reflective and passionate practitioners. Co-op Academy Failsworth is an excellent school for those keen to learn from and contribute to the latest developments in educational research and theory and in return can offer outstanding access to in-house and external CPD to support the growth of learners and teachers.
There are presently 15 full-time members of staff in the department who are expected to teach across the full age and ability range.
At KS4, students are entered for the Edexcel GCSE Mathematics examination and the team will be committed to maximising all students’ progress. This is a key area of focus to ensure we allow all our pupils to achieve their potential. The continued hard work of staff and drive on quality first teaching mean the academy is expecting to continue to improve its results with the current cohort.
The Mathematics team look forward to working with a committed and talented colleague, who will be able to develop strong relationships with colleagues and pupils, and lead the consistent delivery of high quality teaching and learning to the pupils at Co-op Academy Failsworth.
