The Occupational Therapist, under the direction of the Clinical Manager, is responsible for completion of professional activities that include: assessment, treatment, education, and management of clients requiring Occupational Therapy intervention, in accordance with professional standards.
Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the assessment of clients, establishment and ongoing evaluation and revision of treatment programs, including goals and discharge plans.
2. Maintains current accurate clinical records according to standards set by College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario. Documents assessment results, goals, treatment, client progress and discharge plans.
3. Collaborates with other members of the health team as needed.
4. Communicates pertinent information and recommendations to clients/care providers and provides education regarding treatment strategies as needed.
5. Observes the performance of those assisting in the Occupational Therapy program and provides guidance as necessary.
Other Responsibilities:
1. Maintain active standing in College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
2. Participate in ongoing internal and/or external education activities.
3. Adhere to Bayshore ICS Policies and Procedures.
4. Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System.
5. Participate in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties. Responsible to notify immediate Supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns.
6. Maintain confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same only with appropriate Bayshore personnel.
7. Complete other tasks as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Masters Degree or recognized equivalent in Occupational Therapy. Registered and in good standing with College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
Experience: Preference of three years providing Occupational Therapy services. Experience with in-home assessments and treatments; knowledge medical/legal report writing is an asset.
Other Skills and Abilities: Enjoy working with clients of all ages in multiple treatment environments. Strong communication (oral and written) and presentation skills. Exceptional interpersonal and decision-making skills. Ability to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent manner. Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team. Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and proficiency with secure email. Commitment to continual learning. Valid driver’s license.
