Job summary
Due to expansion of the team and internal promotion we have an exciting opportunity in the Directorate of Rehabilitation and Therapies. This offers the opportunity for a Band 5 occupational therapist to join our dynamic team at Harefield Hospital, Middlesex and to develop them further clinically, supervising assistants, students and contributing to key departmental projects.
Harefield Hospital is a relatively small hospital (approx. 168 beds) specialising in treating heart and lung conditions including heart and lung transplantation, with a friendly open culture situated in a village accessible by public transport, near to Uxbridge and Watford and very close to the M25 and M40. You will receive Outer London Weighting in addition to your salary.
Main duties of the job
The successful OT' will join the OT and multidisciplinary team in working with patients (and their families) with a variety of cardio-thoracic conditions including the transplant unit. The post holder will be assessing, providing interventions and managing discharge of a variety of cardiac and thoracic patients as part of a close MDT. This is a great opportunity to gain some experience in a specialist field but utilising all the core OT assessment and intervention skills including post-surgical assessment, functional assessment skills, group work (jointly with the arts team), palliative care interventions and discharge planning skills, with the opportunity to observe and gain experience with interventions in neuro and critical care.

This person will need good organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work as a member of a team. There is regular supervision, training and support from highly skilled senior Occupational Therapists to address learning needs and you will be expected to work closely with the other members of the MDT.
