Contract Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours (Monday to Friday)
Salary: £24,068 starting salary + Benefits
Reporting to: Shop and Stores Manager

We are looking for a Shop and Stores Assistant to join our team at HMP Ashfield. This role involves playing a vital part in the operation of the prison shop and stores department. From managing inventory to supervising prisoner workers, this position is integral to ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Shop Duties:
* Prepare, pack, and deliver shop orders to designated prison wings.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchase information in the CMS system.
* Ensure shop items meet the needs of the population and reflect diversity.
* Supervise prisoner workers and assist in recruitment and interviewing.
* Attend monthly Catering & Shop PIAC meetings.
Stores Duties:
* Assist with ordering, stock taking, goods receipting, and stock movement.
* Manage stock levels, rotation, and general upkeep of the stores.
* Use SRM and Guided Buying tools effectively.
* Handle staff uniform requests and vehicle/delivery movements.
* Ensure compliance with COSHH standards for all products.
General Duties:
* Comply with all policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
* Contribute to a safe, secure, and hygienic environment.
* Commit to personal development and training.
* Act as a role model for professionalism and teamwork.

Essential Skills and Experience:
* Customer service experience and strong interpersonal skills.
* Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
* Resilience, teamwork, and a problem-solving attitude.
* Previous experience in store/warehouse operations.
* A commitment to working in a socially diverse environment.
Qualifications:
* GCSE-level education in English and Math (desirable).
