Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Geophysical Survey Specialist to join our team at Spectrum. This role will involve conducting hydrographic surveys, vessel mobilisations, and equipment calibration in the offshore renewables sector.
About the Role:
* Vessel Mobilisation: You will be responsible for installing, interfacing, calibrating, and verifying survey equipment.
* Hydrographic Surveys: You will plan and undertake hydrographic surveys to collect data for clients in the offshore renewables sector.
* Equipment Calibration: You will calibrate and maintain survey equipment to ensure accurate data collection.
* Survey Procedures: You will develop and document survey procedures to ensure consistency and quality.
* Data Processing: You will process and chart large area bathymetric datasets to deliver high-quality results.
* Reporting: You will compile concise and accurate survey reports for clients.
* Project Management: You will assist project managers in running survey projects, including researching new technologies and arranging system/software trials.
Requirements:
* Education: Degree in Hydrography, Marine Geography, Marine Sciences, or a related field.
* Experience: Working knowledge of hydrographic multibeam systems, motion reference units, side scan sonar, and magnetometer systems.
* Skills: Highly competent in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
* Personal Attributes: Strong marine background, high attention to detail, ability to work unsupervised, and full valid UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications:
* GIS and Spatial Data: Work experience with GIS and spatial data.
* Prior Industry Experience: Prior industry experience in hydrographic surveying or a related industry.
* Project Management: Project management experience.
* Hydrographic Software: Previous work experience with hydrographic software, such as QINSy, Teledyne PDS, or Caris HIPS & SIPS.
* Chart Creation: Experience with creating charts (QGIS & ArcGIS).
* Scripting Language: Experience with a scripting language (Python).

Estimated Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
