Welcome to Fast Track to Care training programme
The Fast Track to Care ‘training to become a carer’ programme has been launched by the Vale of Glamorgan Council to help fill vacancies across the care sector.
The fast-track training programme has been designed especially for people with little or no experience in care. It may be the perfect opportunity if you:
1. are a kind, caring person
2. are looking for a career in care or to move into care from a different sector
3. would like free training to help you gain a job in social care
The scheme will recruit and train staff for more than 20 care providers operating in the Vale, as well as for roles with the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
About the programme
The Fast Track to Care programme is designed for those with little or no experience in social care.
Successful applicants to the training programme will, over the course of 6-7 days, receive the most essential training to work in either a home care or residential care role. References, right to work, and DBS checks will be undertaken at the same time. Upon completion Fast Track to Care graduates will be matched with vacancies in the Vale that best suit them, many of which will offer immediate start dates.
During the programme you will receive:
4. Accredited training that matches your preferred job role
5. A mentor to support you throughout the programme
6. Candidate matching to ensure the opportunities available meet your needs and skills
7. Support post programme to aid your transition into employment in the sector
Applications are being welcomed for a June 2024 intake to the training programme.
For those who pursue Domiciliary Care and cannot drive The Vale will provide driving lessons and Fast Track driving tests (Terms and Conditions apply) or access to free electric bike loans.
The programme has several compulsory elements that you are required to attend either in person or via virtual classroom on Zoom at a set date and time. Other elements are completed via e-learning so you can do these at your own convenience or arrange a date and time to come and use one of our computers.
