Gateman Wigan £16.50 per hour Roles & Responsibility of a Gateman A Gateman is a professional who is responsible for the security and safety of a construction site or industrial facility. They typically work at the main entrance of the site, controlling access to the property and ensuring that only authorized personnel are allowed inside. Gatemen are also responsible for monitoring the site for any potential hazards or security breaches, and reporting any issues to the site supervisor or management. In addition to security and safety, the Gatemen will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the site entrance, ensuring hoarding are kept clean (Graffiti free) and free from litter. They will also be responsible for monitoring and controlling the movement of vehicles in and out of the site as well as providing information to visitors and directing them to the appropriate location or person. Overall, a Gateman plays a crucial role in ensuring that a construction site or industrial facility operates smoothly and safely, by maintaining security, protecting assets, and promoting a positive image for the company. Duties to include, but not limited to Report to Logistics Manager/Site Manager/Project manager on a daily basis Control ALL access on to site via the gate appointed to, this includes any interface with members of public Manage delivery vehicles entering and leaving the project Ensure delivery drivers have the correct PPE before entering the project Induct ALL delivery drivers, highlighting the hazards on site, traffic routes, pedestrian routes and welfare facilities if required. Prevent unauthorised access onto the construction site Provide access to visitors/staff and authorised operatives Ensure the entrance area is kept clean and presentable at all times Follow Galliford Try procedures and complete our forms relating to deliveries/traffic control/storage/unloading Set an example through high personal standards in the application of health and safety. Ensure compliance with the fire, traffic and Health and Safety Management Plans. Ensure that security of the site is always maintained and report to Senior Management any risks and any measure that may be implemented to improve the security of the site. Co-operate with the visiting Health and Safety Advisor and act on recommendations given. Ensure site diary is kept detailing events of the day, operations, operatives’ plant and machinery, any issues. Ensure that all accidents and dangerous occurrences are reported in accordance with company procedures. Ensure the safe unloading, storing, and stacking of all materials. Ensure good housekeeping on and around site is maintained Ensure site is secure before/during and at the end of each construction day Inspect hoardings on a weekly basis Undertaken a weekly workplace inspection for the area assigned to (FM-HSE-M02-02) Report any complaints/complements to the Project team using GT QR code TBC – Use Galliford Try tablet to record all forms & site pictures onto Fieldview Required Qualifications CSCS card relevant to the position Swing-up Stabilizer safety guidance training (Online course) Traffic Marshall/banksman training M-Site delivery app experience Spill kit trained First Aid training (Not required but a would like)
