Due to our ambitious growth plans, we are looking to strengthen our team in a number of roles globally.
Pulse is looking to add a System Engineer Lead on a full-time permanent basis, based in Wokingham. The successful candidate will drive and lead system engineering across a range of projects for complex, integrated data delivery systems using integrated sensor arrays, communication networks, software applications, and related processes, within the energy sector. The systems are primarily used for onshore/offshore asset integrity, ensuring safe asset operations, and life extension purposes.
The System Engineer Lead supports the Engineering Manager to lead the system engineering department, with the aim of delivering excellence through all phases of project execution with particular focus on successful factory and integration testing, technical reports, and on-site onshore/offshore installation. The System Engineer Lead supervises the day-to-day activities of the department, managing the systems’ scopes, and leads the system engineers as well as acting as technical approver for electrical and system solutions.
Duties/Responsibilities
* Support the Engineering Manager to lead the system engineering department, defining priorities and reviewing/approving technical design solutions through all phases of project execution.
* Responsible for the technical approval of project documentation such as schematics, wiring diagrams, operating procedures, FAT and SIT procedures, and reports.
* Seamless engagement with project managers to define project-specific equipment, system specification requirements, test plans & procedures, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
* Review resource planning and schedule updates for department’s work packages.
* Able to review electrical layouts, schematics, and interface diagrams, and support team members where required.
* Interface with other departments’ leads to ensure technical solutions can be fully integrated into the systems being delivered and deployed.
* Oversee assembly and testing of systems, including working with engineering disciplines and operational/workshop technicians. This will include hands-on testing and troubleshooting.
* Perform and/or review time and frequency domain data analysis, interpretation, and fitness for purpose analysis of sensor output(s) against performance requirements.
* Documentation control, complying with Pulse internal processes and ISO 9001 documentation control.
* Client interface (circa 30% of the time), understanding client requirements including client witnessed testing.
* Interface with the product technology department during the manufacture and testing of system components.
* Support Sales Team during the bidding process with defining technical offerings.
Requirements
* 10-15 years’ experience in design, manufacturing, and testing of electromechanical systems.
* Prior experience in automation preferred.
* Experience in managing small to medium-sized teams, including leading technical reviews and approval of documentation.
* Technical qualification: applicable engineering degree preferred.
* Significant experience in project environments, with a key role in integrating technology.
* Significant experience in the design of electronic systems using communications protocols including RS-232, RS-485, and Ethernet.
* Demonstrate the ability to carry out product qualification, including writing qualification plans and reports.
* Experience of quality management; experience of working to ISO 9001 desirable.
