Job description
The Environment Agency values difference. That is why we are fully committed to being an inclusive employer. We don't just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities and our environment.
We are looking for a Business Analyst to join the exciting work of the Technology Governance team. We are a small but growing team at the heart of how the Environment Agency delivers and manages technology, enabling our teams to deliver improved environmental outcomes.
This new role will work across the team to support the development and implementation of improved governance and assurance for how we develop new digital products including streamlining our pipeline of digital initiatives. There may also be opportunities to understand requirements and options for replacing some of our legacy shadow IT (not supported by our corporate IT department, Digital, S+Data, Technology and Security (DDTS).
Given the exploratory nature of our work, adaptability is key-you'll need to adapt to diverse priorities and work areas as they evolve. Leveraging your Business Analysis expertise and business acumen, you'll analyse and explore current workflows, identifying, evaluating, and facilitating improvements to support delivery effectively.
Responding to incidents is an important part of what we do, and with this in mind you'll have an incident role (during or outside working hours with agreement) and should be ready to make yourself available to respond or provide business continuity support. This may attract an additional payment, and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you.
The team
The Technology Governance team is part of the wider Digital and IT team within Strategy, Transformation and Assurance Business Area. Our aim is to support the delivery of the Environment Agency's strategy and outcomes through technology and digital services.
We focus on three main areas:

2. Development and management of the digital pipeline for Environment Agency
3. Partnership working and problem solving with our IT provider, DDTS.
Experience/skills required
We are looking for a Business Analyst who has:
* Proven experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in a digital or government setting- typically 3 years' experience and/or a professional qualification.
* Proficiency in business analysis tools and methodologies.
* Comfortable working with a wide range of technical and non-technical colleagues.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver to tight timescales.
* Good communication and influencing skills and can work effectively with others.
* Ability to manage yourself and work on your own initiative.
* Effective data analysis, interpretation, presentation, and communication skills.
