Oriam, in partnership with Scottish Squash, is looking to recruit an experienced and dedicated squash coach to join the performance team as the Head Squash Coach. This is a new role linked to the introduction of a dedicated squash scholarship programme that will dovetail with Scottish Squash performance programmes, hosted at Oriam in Edinburgh.
The programme will fit into the existing Heriot-Watt University Squash Club, providing a high-performance environment to nurture squash athletes to success both in their sport and their studies while acting as a key recruitment tool for the University.
As the Head Coach, you will be expected to drive recruitment of athletes into the programme as well as all on-court delivery in training and selected competitions. This will be supported through sport science and physio services provided from within Oriam’s performance team. There is also an opportunity to work closely with the Director of Squash for Scottish Squash and link in with the programmes under their supervision.
Oriam is Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre and is based in Heriot-Watt’s Edinburgh Campus, hosting a number of performance partners including Scottish FA, Scottish Rugby Union, Heart of Midlothian, and Scottish Institute for Sport. The facility boasts 8 squash courts and hosts all Scottish Squash national performance activity as well as competitions and coach education.
Grade and Salary: Grade 6 (£27,116 – £31,406 pro-rata)
Working hours and pattern:
* 0.6 FTE = 22.5 hours per week.
* Programme times to be confirmed but are flexible.
The salary detailed above is to coach the scholarship programme; however, there is an opportunity to income generate to make up additional hours in other community and performance programmes with payment arrangements to be negotiated.
