As Heathrow embarks upon its 7th regulatory period “H7”, Costain was awarded two lots as Major Project Partner and Asset Renewal Partner for Terminal 2 – The Queen’s Terminal.
Costain has a new opportunity for a dynamic Commercial Director to take a strategic lead role supporting our Asset Replacement Programme and Major Projects (T2 Baggage) programme, supporting the Commercial leads to call off contracts or Tranche’s. The Commercial Director for the Heathrow project will lead and provide support to the Project Director to implement the commercial strategy. As part of the senior leadership of the programme with Heathrow, you will ensure the production, pricing, and governance of call off contracts or Tranche contracts are aligned with Heathrow’s delivery process and strategy.
Ensure that commercial discipline is maintained throughout. Guide and develop all project staff on commercial issues.
This Commercial Director role is a strategic leadership position within the Costain business, reporting into the Integrated Transport Commercial Director, whom you will support with the management of resources and development of the commercial function capability. You will be accountable for the implementation, management, and ongoing assurance activities in connection with the company’s commercial governance programme and shall ensure adherence to contract specific requirements.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the legal framework within which our Aviation customers operate, and an in-depth knowledge of the standard forms of contract typically encountered. You must be able to formulate commercial strategies in connection with conflict avoidance, conflict management, and dispute resolution and be able to communicate and influence effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Role Requirements
1. Degree / HND in a relevant commercial / construction discipline
2. Full membership of RICS or CICES
3. Extensive post-graduate commercial experience in the construction industry with a track record of achievement (Water Sector experience preferred)
4. Previous experience of working in collaborative or alliancing environments
5. Strong financial and commercial acumen, with a track record of resolving complicated commercial issues.
6. Lead commercial negotiations with major supply chain members
7. Ensure the proper communication of the commercial strategy to the wider team
8. Lead all aspects of commercial due diligence and reporting, work closely with operations and finance leads to ensure transparent reporting.
9. Champion Sustainability, Safety, Health, and Environment by putting personal safety and well-being at the heart of everything we do and helping the environment and communities to thrive
10. Have integrity by always doing the right thing in the right way
11. Must be customer-focused by striving for excellence through understanding, anticipating, and meeting their needs
