As an Assistant Project Manager working on food retail construction projects, you'll be responsible for overseeing and managing the entire construction site to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to the client's specifications and safety standards.
Responsibilities
1. Oversee the day-to-day operations on the construction site, ensuring all activities are being carried out in line with the project schedule and plans.
2. Implement and monitor health and safety procedures on-site, making sure all workers comply with the relevant safety regulations.
3. Ensure that all work is completed to the highest quality standards, particularly with respect to food-safe materials and equipment installation.
4. Plan and manage the construction schedule, ensuring work is completed on time, especially important for food retail where store openings are tightly scheduled.
5. Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, keeping them updated on the progress of the project, addressing concerns, and managing expectations.
6. Ensure the project stays within the allocated budget by tracking expenses, controlling costs, and avoiding unnecessary expenditure.
Skills and Experiences
1. Significant experience working as an Assistant Project Manager.
2. Have worked on large scale food retail jobs (Tescos, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Asda, Aldi).
3. Good political awareness.
4. Ability to multitask.
5. Proactive, diligent, and able to think one step ahead.
6. Quality driven.
