We are looking to recruit an NQ/Associate to join our expanding healthcare employment practice in our Birmingham office. This role is perfect for professionals who are eager to develop their career in employment law, particularly focusing on Employment Tribunal litigation. Our team of legal and HR specialists within the health team have a wealth of knowledge and experience and come highly commended; consistently featured in Band One of the Legal 500 and Chambers UK listings.
While prior experience in healthcare is not a prerequisite, the successful candidate will be integrated into a supportive and experienced team. Key Responsibilities:
* Provide comprehensive legal advice and assistance on predominantly contentious employment matters, with opportunities to handle non-contentious work.
* Prepare thoroughly for Employment Tribunal cases, including drafting claims, responses, applications, lists of issues, witness statements, skeleton arguments, and settlement approval applications.
* Represent clients in Employment Tribunals, including at Case Management and Preliminary Hearings.
* Manage correspondence with the Employment Tribunal, opposing solicitors, witnesses, ACAS, and clients.
* Draft and advise on employment contracts, policies, and procedures, ensuring clients are well-informed about necessary protocols.
* Offer general legal advice on a range of issues such as disciplinary investigations, grievance procedures, redundancy programs, and rights related to flexible working, maternity, and paternity.
* Play an active role in the marketing and non-fee-earning activities of the department, including preparing and presenting at seminars, drafting training programs, updating precedents, and contributing to Employment Bulletins.
* Occasionally support corporate matters, including advising on TUPE, indemnities, warranties, and conducting due diligence for client transactions.
