Job Description:
Columbia Threadneedle Investments, a leading investment manager of Investment Trusts, is seeking a qualified Accountant to support its Investment Trusts. The ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal and communication skills, as the role involves client interaction, and ideally possess experience in Investment Trust accounting practices and governance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare annual and interim accounts, ensuring compliance with current accounting standards and regulations.
2. Review month-end reconciliations, controls, and calculate monthly net asset values for submission to the AIC, ensuring timely delivery.
3. Prepare board papers with portfolio information, transactions, liquidity, and revenue forecasts, and coordinate their dispatch within 7 days of meetings.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with service providers such as auditors, lawyers, and registrars.
5. Ensure client administration requirements are met according to management and secretarial agreements.
6. Monitor client investment objectives, guidelines, and compliance issues.
7. Liaise with tax advisers for timely tax computations and review prior to submission.
8. Prepare statutory returns, including VAT returns.
9. Maintain accurate statutory information on Blueprint.
10. Attend Audit Committees and Board meetings as appropriate.
11. Stay updated on legislative and regulatory changes affecting the trusts.
Qualifications and Skills:
* An accounting qualification.
* Strong communication skills.
* Ambition to progress towards a Company Secretarial role if opportunities arise.
Preferred Experience:
* Experience in Investment Company financial reporting.
* Experience presenting at Investment Trust Board and Audit Committee meetings.
