Job Purpose: We have a new brilliant opportunity for a Lightning Protection Test & Repair Engineer to join the growing team. Within this role, you will be carrying out lightning protection system inspections, testing and repairs on a vast variety of buildings and structures in a safe and professional manner. This will also involve checking and reporting compliance against established industry standards so that required certification can be provided to the client. Key Accountabilities: To undertake physical tests and visual inspections against agreed work orders from clients, undertaking multiple jobs during the course of each working day. Using standard forms and checklists, produce reports for each site and system tested so that the required certification can be produced internally and provided to the client. Correctly identify any remedial or repair works required using technical knowledge and a deep understanding of British Standards. Accuracy and attention to detail is important for this activity given that the information will be used to generate quotations and undertake follow-up work. To complete remedial works as highlighted from previous inspection visits and to undertake all work in a diligent and professional way, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction at all times. Maintain own vehicle and equipment to a high standard, driving carefully and respectfully at all times. Job Context / Key Challenges: Lightning Protection is a key niche service for PTSG and the environment is highly regulated (BS EN 62305:2012) requiring our clients to undertake testing at least once a year. The work undertaken is generally outdoors and at height, requiring our Test and Repair Engineers to gain access to roof tops and systems in sometimes difficult to reach places. Manual Handling and Work at height are frequent activities and generally all remedial works are completed as a 2 person team. All works are to be completed in accordance with all RAMS and national safety standards, ensuring very high standards of personal and site safety are applied at all times. The types of sites an engineer will work on ranges for high-rise domestic residential properties to large retail units and industrial structures such as towers and chimneys. Driving is a critical part of the role given the size and location of the customer base. Person Profile (Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill and Experience): Strong and proven experience in lightning protection (either testing, repair or installation background) NVQ 2 or NVQ3 as a Lightning Conductor Engineer Customer facing experience in a field service environment Good planning and organisation skills IPAF, SSSTS and PASMA qualifications desirable CSCS Card Holder Full UK driving license Organisation Structure (place in the organisation): Individual contributor reporting to an Operations or Contracts leader.
