About the role
Fixed term position until end of January 2026
At Tesco, we believe in the power of spending more time together, face to face, than apart. So, during your working week, you can expect to spend 60% of your time in one of our office locations or local sites and the rest remotely. We also recognise that life looks a little different for each of us. Some people are at the start of their careers, some want the freedom to do the things they love. Others are going through life-changing moments like becoming a carer, nearing retirement, adapting to parenthood, or something else. That’s why at Tesco, we always welcome a conversation about flexible working. So, talk to us throughout your application about how we can support.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our Group Technical Accounting team, supporting the Head of Technical Accounting in Group Finance.
You will provide technical accounting advice to management and finance teams across the Group, getting involved in complex and often high-profile transactions. You will manage impact assessments on new accounting standards, amendments and interpretations, develop training webcasts, and update the Tesco Group Accounting Policies manual. You will also review the Group’s annual and interim accounts, making suggestions for disclosure improvements.
The role offers lots of variety as accounting standards evolve or new transactions occur (acquisitions, disposals, property transactions, new revenue streams, restructuring, impairment etc). Given the Group-wide focus of the role, you will obtain a good understanding of the Group’s global operations, together with exposure to many different finance management teams, so the role can be a great springboard to other roles across the Group.

* Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
* Excellent knowledge of IFRS and its application to real-life situations
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with great attention to detail and a talent for explaining complex information clearly and concisely
* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships quickly and the confidence to challenge and question in order to get to the right answer
