A vacancy has arisen within Admiral Money for an Underwriting Manager!
The role involves leading the underwriting team whilst we transition to a new way of working. This includes the management of the operational team, and you will be responsible for ensuring the team is performing to a high standard whilst supporting key strategic projects. The Underwriting Manager will play a vital role in creating a positive and productive working environment.
The successful candidate will be able to quickly fit into a fast-moving and high-profile environment and will be required to hit the ground running. You will be given responsibility to set direction and lead the way, whilst very much retaining a hands-on approach.

About Admiral Money
Admiral Money is an exciting division of Admiral Group. We have the freedom and innovation of a small start up with the security of a large parent company, Admiral.
The journey started when we launched unsecured personal loans in June. We went on to be the first direct to consumer car finance provider in December. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength and have some exciting plans for the future.
We are relaunching our car finance product later this year, as well as launching second charge mortgages and are looking for someone who is keen to learn, excited about getting stuck in and are ready for a challenge to help us to achieve our aim of creating a special lending business for our customers.
Duties Include:
1. Responsible for the day-to-day running of the team
2. Ensuring reporting/MI is reviewed, and insights are evaluated, in order to improve performance
3. Carrying out regular QA of the team’s output and identify training needs
4. Being an SME for the team and providing guidance and support to team members
5. Assisting with the implementation of new systems/processes
6. Supporting on strategic underwriting projects and ensuring that operational requirements are clear and accurate
7. Prioritising workloads, in order to meet SLAs and deliver on team objectives
8. Supporting the launch of our new motor finance division, this will include consideration of how we support motor customers across evenings and weekends to stand up a minute SLA for dealership applications
Required Skills and Experience:
9. The ability to demonstrable underwriting experience in a lending business is essential
10. Contribute positively to the Admiral culture, ensuring staff are happy and engaged
11. Have the confidence to challenge existing work practices to ensure we are continuously improving as a team, and encourage an environment where staff are proactively suggesting improvements to process
12. Able to work on their own initiative with excellent time management and organisation skills
13. Flexible and adaptable approach to work as process/systems evolve
14. Positive outlook and able to demonstrate a positive influence on to the team
15. A strong focus on quality, receptive to feedback and effective when giving feedback to others
Desirable Skills:
16. Proven experience working in an underwriting management role
17. Experience with the following would be advantageous: Unsecured personal loans & Motor Finance CIFAS/SIRA loadings and assessments Open Banking
