Job role
Teaching role in a secondary special educational needs independent school.
The postholder will be expected to plan and deliver lessons to our pupils who are: -
· New to the school and are transitioning into The Haven Wolston.
· Finding it a challenge to attend school on a full-time basis.
· Need additional support for their anxiety and mental health.
· Need additional support to overcome barriers to education (connected to mental health, and to social and emotional well-being).
· Need 1:1 English and Maths tuition.
· Needing to build an effective working relationship with a key adult to enable them to re-engage in learning and re-focus on their education within a new setting.
This role will mainly involve teaching students in their individual homes and then supporting students to transition to the school site. The postholder will also need to share support strategies, academic information and assessments with staff based on the school site to support students’ transition.
The postholder will also be expected to teach on the school site – this will be dependent on the level of need for outreach work which will be reviewed throughout the school year.
The postholder will need to be able to plan and deliver English and Maths lessons to pupils who may be working at the level expected of a student in Key Stage 1, and all the way up to students who are working at GCSE level. The postholder will also need to be able to plan and deliver interventions which will support with their anxiety, mental health or school-based trauma.
About The Haven School Wolston
Our School is a new registered independent school which is situated in a beautiful rural location in the Warwickshire countryside. Our core aim is to offer a highly bespoke education to enhance the social and emotional wellbeing and life chances of vulnerable children who struggle in a mainstream educational setting. The School has the capacity for up to 40 students.
The School caters for pupils with SEMH, Autism and ADHD from a number of local authorities and schools and provide them will a highly specialist and individualised educational experience to allow them to overcome their barriers to learning. We are looking to appoint an individual who shares our unflinching commitment to providing the young people we will serve with the best possible future life chances.
The Haven School Wolston is at an exciting phase of development. Phase three of the school opened in September 2024. This is a new post - we are looking to further develop our offer for our students.
The Haven Wolston was inspected by OFSTED in March 2023 and has been graded as good in all areas.
