Job description
Job purpose:
* To be part of a dedicated team of staff to in order to support Day Opportunity Officers in providing personalised activities in accordance with support plans for adults with physical and/or sensory disabilities.
* Achieving improvements in individuals health, employability, social and community involvement and independence.
* Supporting clients with their personal care for a variety of reasons. It is essential that Day Opportunities Officers and Assistants undertake this activity with dignity and respect.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Being guided by DOOs and/or managers to use person centred approaches to ensure that the Service provides activities which enhance the quality of life for adults with a physical and or sensory disabilities.
* Being alert to incidences of concern which may need the safeguarding protocol to be implemented.
* Working with risk assessments and assisting in the updating of support plans.
* The ability to be professional at all times with parent/carers whilst ensuring that the service user comes first.
* Discussing with team members the content of risk assessments.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 1+ years experience in a similar role.
* The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in both verbal and written communications, with a range of people; taking account of their views; and using well-reasoned arguments to successfully negotiate and influence where necessary to achieve positive outcomes.
* The ability to plan for, adapt to and work with a variety of situations, individuals and groups - demonstrating an open and positive attitude to change and showing the drive to make a success of it.
* The ability to manage workload by prioritising and agreeing targets, creating plans and timetables, leading and monitoring activities and reviewing progress.
* Demonstrate determination and commitment to achieve results and overcome difficulties and pressures.
* Demonstrate a flexible approach in the delivery of work within the service area.
