Join the CWA as a Preconstruction Engineer for the Sizewell C Project I’m excited to announce that the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is searching for a dedicated and experienced Preconstruction Engineer to join our dynamic team for the Sizewell C project. Based in our SZC Project Office or in London, this role is integral to delivering preconstruction activities for the Marine and Tunnels (MT) scope, which is a crucial part of the broader Civil Works Programme. Sizewell C is a 3.2-gigawatt power station designed to generate low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, playing a pivotal role in ensuring a sustainable energy future for at least 60 years. Why This Role Matters: As a Preconstruction Engineer, you will support the development and execution of the strategy to deliver the Marine and Tunnels scope efficiently and safely. Your role will include coordinating with various team members, managing the Target Outturn Cost (TOC) process, and preparing the project for successful delivery. This position will involve design, planning, procurement, and execution of intake and outfall tunnels and their offshore connections. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and deliver preconstruction work scope documents within the contract or package. Draft and prepare strategies and plans aligned with the overall Programme Execution Plan (PEP). Develop and maintain effective communication with all stakeholders. Manage and coordinate preconstruction deliverables, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery. Track progress against programme milestones, deadlines, and budgets, providing key stakeholders with reports. Identify and mitigate risks in coordination with the Risk Team. Produce contractor applications for payment when necessary. Apply principles of Continuous Improvement from HPC and other projects. Capture and document lessons learned to be implemented as business as usual. Interface with other programmes to ensure overall project progress and best practice adoption. Support readiness and handover preparations for project leads and delivery teams. What We’re Looking For: Proven track record of delivering projects within technically complex and dynamic environments, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or a similar regulated environment. Experience in engineering design, procurement, and contract management, cost control, risk management, and schedule adherence. Strong management skills, including project management and facilitation. Experience in managing subcontractors, consultants, and other advisors through large and complex construction projects, preferably in the preconstruction phase, including NEC contracts. Excellent communication, organisational, and presentation skills. Ability to work under tight deadlines during preconstruction stages. Strong numerical and analytical skills.
