WANTED: A Comms pro who can tell a story, embraces change, is excited by a strategic challenge and brings the best out of people! Our brilliant City is evolving, and this role will make a difference to our residents and colleagues. Are you ready for your next career move to the best communications and engagement role you'll ever have?
A bit about us
Liverpool is an exciting city with ambitions that require us to operate locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. We serve proud and passionate residents and communities and are on track to build an excellent Council.
This role will appeal to an ambitious, strategic and forward–thinking Communications leader who is familiar with forming collaborative partnerships with stakeholders internally and externally and who understands how to navigate within a political landscape that invites scrutiny.
In short, this role will provide you with the kind of professional challenge and professionalism you will naturally aspire to as an ambitious leader – as a Core City, our size means that we are large enough to provide the rich mix of complexities facing local government, but we are also agile enough to achieve our goals and ambitions through our solutions–focused approach. We need you to develop our neighbourhood engagement plan and build on our strengthening relationships with the Government. This role will provide you with the opportunity to make a significant difference to all around you, as well as a platform to enhance your career.
The role
This is a career–defining role and will be hugely rewarding.
You will have the chance to generate significant impact working with people from diverse roles and backgrounds. There is no perfect candidate; we want an individual who can help build on our existing award–winning communication successes and bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.
To succeed in this field, certain skills and experiences are crucial. Working in a complex, high–pressure environment is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively, develop strong interpersonal relationships, and lead and develop a compact but high–performing team.
Strategic influence is key; you will act as the communications adviser to senior politicians and officers. We want someone who can take an evidence–based approach to campaign planning whilst being able to act quickly and decisively during a crisis. The ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, fast–paced environment will be critical to your success in this role.
This is an opportunity to bring your expertise and creativity to the table, contributing to a wide–ranging transformation programme that will have a lasting impact on the way the organisation operates and can deliver for the City.
We are proud of our world–famous, thriving City with its rich culture, affordable housing, stunning waterfront and our beautiful green spaces – there's really something for everyone; come and join us!
