WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
The Lead Operator provides assistance for the supervision of grain and/or agronomy operations staff, as well as the day-to-day safe operation and maintenance and/or security of equipment and machinery of moderate capital value, such as custom application trucks and plant equipment.
The Lead Operator coordinates the various business segments, and related services, ensuring that functions are carried out in a safe, efficient manner while delivering value to customers. This position requires a working knowledge and proper handling of crop protection, seed, grain, delivery, application and bulk & bagged fertilizer and overall operations. May be required to work in the warehouse, at the elevator, in the shop, and/or deliver product.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Arranges work schedules and determines production and delivery priorities.
2. Schedules and records the shipping and receiving of products and services.
3. Ensures the overall appearance of the inside and outside of the premises is maintained in a professional and organized manner.
4. Ensures the safe operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of equipment and vehicles and keeps the storage facilities clean, organized and presentable.
5. Drives and operates plant equipment and machinery, such as bobcat, grain dryer and grain fertilizer elevators, forklifts and/or trucks safely.
6. Loads and unloads containers, pallets, or materials and products, safely on trucks, trailers, or railcars. May be performed by hand, forklift truck, or other means.
7. Blends and transports custom blended fertilizers, chemicals, and seed.
8. Mixes and applies crop inputs to fields and growing crops.
9. Receives grain and grades by sampling, testing, and weighing the product.
10. Ensures that proper documentation is completed on all incoming goods and verifies the correctness of receipts against bills of lading or other records, checks for shortages, identifies damaged goods, etc.
11. Sets up material handling, blending, manufacturing, storage, transport and application equipment for blending and delivery of products, such as fertilizer chemicals, and/or grain, according to recommended rates and procedures.
12. Counts and records inventory on a monthly and annual basis.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
1. Physically fit to climb heights.
2. Ability to lift 50lbs.
3. A general knowledge and skills required to safely operate straightforward plant equipment, and/or machinery.
4. Full G driver's license (preferably class DZ).
5. A current Ag Exterminator License, and/or Nutrient Technician License would be a definite asset (Agronomy locations only).
6. Conversational English skills, with the ability to follow posted safety rules and safe operating procedures; write and make accurate reporting entries, comprehend simple instructions.
