Neuroendocrine Tumour Service (NETs)
Data Manager, Band 5, part time 22.5 hours per week
This post is fixed term for 18 months to meet the needs of the service
Since 2017, NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee (JCC) have commissioned a service for patients with Neuroendocrine Tumours (NETs) for South Wales in partnership with Velindre Cancer Centre and Swansea Bay University Health Board. Serving a population of 2.5 million, it is hosted by Cardiff & Vale University Health Board. As one of the larger centres in the UK, it has been accredited as a European Centre of Excellence since 2022, receiving approximately 200 new patients a year in addition to a large cohort of follow-up patients living with the disease.
There is an active research programme with portfolio clinical trials and internationally recognised, innovative clinical research attracting national public and private funding. The NET service has led and participated in several digital innovation projects including Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), artificial intelligence in diagnosis of NETs, and cancer informatics solutions. There is a drive to modernise services with close relationships with the health board and national digital teams.
Main duties of the job
The Data Manager will provide a focal point for information requests and data queries within the NET service. The post holder will ensure the clinical data source, collection, entry and transfer of information is of the highest standard, and will be expected to develop the databases and the systems and processes associated with them, as the needs of the service change.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to and monitor compliance against the JCC service specification. This post is therefore an integral part of the NET team and will report directly to the Service Manager and Lead NET Consultant.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 18 months to meet the needs of the service.
If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
