Role Overview We’re looking for an Application Support Technician to join our Business Support team in Basildon, offering a hybrid working model. This is a dedicated IT role focused on providing first- and second-line support for business-critical applications across the Sureserve Group. You will work closely with business users, technical teams, and third-party suppliers to ensure our applications are running smoothly, efficiently, and securely. The role involves day-to-day troubleshooting, user support, documentation, and contributing to system improvements and upgrades. You’ll play a key part in managing application incidents, changes, and enhancements – ensuring minimal disruption to business operations and helping to drive continuous improvement. Occasional UK travel may be required. Key Responsibilities IT System Support & Development Ensure business applications are highly available, well-maintained, and user-friendly. Deliver technical upgrades, system support, and enhancements for internal business systems. Develop, maintain, and support a comprehensive reporting & BI platform. Administer SharePoint sites across the Sureserve Group. Set up and configure interfaces between customer and internal systems. Business Analysis & Solution Development Collaborate with teams to analyse business needs and develop tailored IT solutions. Manage and support Microsoft SQL databases. Work closely with third-party vendors to ensure smooth IT service delivery. Ensure the effective transition of business requirements into technical solutions. Project Management & Best Practices Deliver projects using best-practice methodologies to ensure timely and cost-effective results. Stay updated with industry trends and innovations to improve efficiency and service quality. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. Skills & Experience Required Experience in IT development or support teams Experience of design and implementation of an IT Solution. Strong problem-solving & communication skills (both verbal and written) Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions Knowledge of Web & Data Services (HTML, FTP, XML, SOAP, JSON, REST) Experience with SQL (writing queries, SQL Management Studio) Familiarity with Microsoft tools (MS Project, MS Visio, MS Office, Mind Mapping) Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills Why Join Us?
