A great opportunity has arisen for a machinist to join a leading supplier to the Oil & Gas & Offshore industries.
Job Description:
1. Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and tolerances.
2. Manufacture components using manual milling machine and manual lathe to the required quality standards.
3. Competent in the use of precision measuring devices.
4. Complete Quality documentation (NCR, ECN etc.).
5. Carry out standard machine maintenance.
6. Capable of working with limited supervision.
7. Willing to undertake flexible working hours (may include overtime, shift work, ad hoc).
8. Complete administrative documentation (Timesheets, holidays etc.).
9. Carry out job tasks safely using good working practices.
10. Ensure good housekeeping at all times.
11. Other duties to support the business operations as assigned.
12. Manufacture components and parts, generally from aluminum, stainless steel and plastics, in accordance with drawings, technical specifications and tolerances.
13. Setup & operate manual milling machine and manual lathe including planning a sequence of operations for efficient manufacture.
14. Support LEAN activities within the machine shop to ensure maximum efficiency and minimize waste during manufacturing processes.
15. Provide feedback on improvements to design and machine shop equipment to support efficient manufacture of components.
Beneficial Skills / Qualifications:
1. Apprentice trained in machine tools.
2. Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and tolerances.
3. Experience operating manual milling machine and manual lathe to quality requirements.
4. Proficient in using precision measuring equipment.
5. Good communication skills and ability to work well with others.
6. Hard working and able to work under pressure.
7. Minimum 3 years machine shop experience.
8. Working knowledge of standard measurements, such as those used for threads and tapers; good understanding of the working qualities of various metals and plastics.
9. Compliance with HSE requirements.
10. Responsible and accountable through personal commitment and behaviour.
11. Report unsafe or environmentally unsound acts and conditions to the immediate Supervisor for remedial action.
Additional Details:
1. Overtime paid at time and a half Mon-Sat and double time Sunday after 37 hours worked.
2. 37 hours per week - 8.30am to 4.30pm Mon-Thurs and 8.30am to 4pm Friday with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break; flexi-time is available between 7.30 and 9am and 4 and 6pm (4.30pm on Fridays).
3. 25 days holidays and 8 bank holidays.
