An exciting opportunity has arisen fora Personal Medical Secretary to support a Consultant surgeon in the Directorateof General willbe an integral part of the team acting as a direct link between patients andsurgeons as well as being responsible for managing clinicians day to dayclinical timetables and commitments.
Applicants must have excellentorganisational skills, be extremely efficient and be able to work underpressure as part of a large team and to tight must beable to prioritise and manage a busy workload and be committed to deliveringthe best care to Diploma or OCR/RSA level 3 orequivalent are desirable but not essential, however you must have experience ofworking in a medical secretarial role or significant administration sound knowledge of medical terminology is desirableand the ability to demonstrate good audio-typewriting skills isrequired.Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages (includingOutlook and Excel) is essential.Applicants should be able to workunder pressure and to tight deadlines, prioritise and manage a busy workload,excellent telephone manner and be committed to delivering the best care topatients.

Main duties of the job
Main dutieswill be to support the consultant surgeon organising their day to day clinical activitiesand commitments and be the direct link between the consultant and patients. Some of the main duties Include booking oftheatre lists, typing of clinics and attention work, actioning notices andvalidation.

1. To provide a competent secretarialservice to the Consultant and his/her team, making decisions and taking actionon matters of a non-routine nature on their behalf.
2. To ensure that all clerical andsecretarial functions pertaining to the Department are carried out in anefficient and cost effective manner according the Trust Secretarial standards,local and national standards.
3. To ensure Meditech V6 is accessed andutilised in a manner appropriate to the service, working in real time.
4. To maintain a waiting list position thatmeets national and local standards andCQUIN.
5. To assure the Directorate Managementteam of a valid and contemporaneous waiting list position that meets nationalwaiting time requirements.
