Assisting medical personnel in the care of practice patients, to include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties include:
1. Providing assessment, screening and treatment services and health education advice.
2. Organising and co-ordinating the provision of nursing services for the practice, including the delegation of duties to other practice nursing staff as appropriate.
3. Providing nursing treatments to patients in participation with general practitioners or independently, meeting agreed protocols.
4. Providing general and specific health screenings to practice patients (within agreed protocols) with referral to general practitioners as necessary.
5. Advising patients on general health care and minor ailments with referral to GPs as necessary.
6. Undertaking the collection, storage and dispatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears etc., and ensuring the cleanliness of any equipment used. Performing any investigatory procedures requested by the GPs.
