Rotational Physiotherapist - Specialist Acute Physiotherapist

UHCW NHS Trust is looking for highly motivated and experienced Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the expanding in-patient teams based within University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire.
The post consists of rotations through Trauma & Orthopaedics, Neuro Sciences, Cardiothoracics, General Critical Care, Major Trauma and Surgery with head and neck.
Our Trauma & Orthopaedic wards showcase multiple surgeries whilst housing a MTECU. A specialised NOF area, whilst working closely with the doctors, nurses and wider MDT.
The Neuro Science wards consist of complex neuro patients with a range of different conditions. Complex discharge planning and communication skills are key to ensure the correct pathway is utilised.
The Cardiothoracic Unit is a regional centre encompassing ITU, HDU, step down and the Cardiothoracic ward where a range of routine and complex cardiac, thoracic and upper GI surgeries are performed.
The General Critical Care Unit comprises 26 beds encompassing a varied and challenging caseload of Major Trauma, Neurosurgical and general ICU and HDU patients.
With the trust being a Major Trauma centre, our Major Trauma team cover the whole hospital with their specialist skills and leadership. Formulating plans, working with the MDT and creating rehab prescriptions.
The Surgery team cover a number of different wards, including head and neck. Their specialities continue to grow with exciting endeavours and cutting edge surgery.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will work within integrated teams of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. We are looking for applicants who have developed knowledge and skills to assess and treat patients with a wide variety of conditions within an acute setting. You should also have experience in staff and student supervision, training and appraisal. Previous involvement in service developments and audits would be advantageous.
The post holder will be required to participate in the overnight on call and weekend respiratory rota as well as the 7 day service rota for their specific area. Training and support will be provided as required to enable participation in the respiratory rota.

The Therapy Department values the importance of professional development, training and high quality clinical supervision for all our staff. We have a well-established appraisal system in place alongside regular and varied CPD opportunities.

Job responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of patients with varying diagnoses specific to rotational area and or /complex needs, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in a defined clinical area.
* Ensure development of junior staff through supervision, training, and annual appraisal.
* Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical practice & service development within area.
* Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust Physiotherapy service.
* Take a lead for information management to ensure high quality data which is recorded, evaluated & reported in a timely manner.
* Be professionally and legally responsible & accountable for all aspects of own work and management of clinical risk within own clinical caseload.
* Carry a clinical caseload of highly complex patients, providing advanced therapeutic assessment & evaluation. Provide detailed written treatment plans with patient centered goals.
* To work as an autonomous practitioner and member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to team discussions and influencing decisions about patient care programs.
* Carry out treatments, using a broad variety of modalities and clinical reasoning to allow selection of the most appropriate technique. Evaluating, modifying and recording all interventions and outcomes & adapting them to meet the needs of the patient.
* Assist the team leader/clinical lead in the production and delivery of an annual report specific to clinical area & participate in the delivery of the Physiotherapy business plan.
