About the Academy
Outwood Academy Riverside, founded in September 2020 through the Free Schools Programme, implements the Riverside values programme for all students at the start of every academic year.
The academy is dedicated to the wide variety of students who enrol, ensuring strong routines and top-notch pastoral care for all pupils.
Located at Russell Street, Middlesbrough, Outwood Academy Riverside is set to have a new school built on Pioneering Way close to Middlesbrough College. Additionally, a satellite site in Eston opened in September 2024, as the school continues to grow.
About the Department
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who believes in the transformative power of computing in the modern world and is eager to inspire the next generation of digital innovators.
As a department, we have a strong belief in encouraging students to see the wonders of modern digital technology and how they can have an impact on its future, with the shared aim of breaking down barriers and encouraging girls and minorities in particular to fully embrace computing. Together as a team, we support each other in achieving these aims.
At Outwood Academy Riverside we have access to three well-maintained computer suites and teach the OCR Level 1/Level 2 GCSE (9-1) in Computer Science and Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 Tech Award in Digital Information Technology, as well as offer OCR Level 1/Level 2 GCSE (9-1) in Business.
As the Head of Department, I bring with me a commitment to offer the best for our students, borne from my previous experience of working across both educational support and teaching, combined with my years of experience working utilising computer technology in the videography sector.
