Specialising in the collation, preservation, and application of scientific structural data, the CCDC offers the renowned Cambridge Structural Database (CSD), a trusted resource containing fully curated organic and metal-organic structures utilized by researchers worldwide. The role The CCDC Executive Director will work closely with the CCDC Board of Trustees (the Board), the CCDC senior management and staff to lead this innovative registered charity in the service of our scientific user community and for public benefit. They will be accountable for delivery of the strategic vision, leadership and all aspects of the organisation’s management. Leading the CCDC’s scientific, software and supporting teams to deliver our charitable purpose, they will regularly engage with international stakeholders to ensure an outward focussed and collaborative relationship. What we are looking for This role requires a candidate who is passionate about structural science and able to communicate their vision compellingly to colleagues and the scientific community. Knowledge of crystallography and of the value of structural information and how it is used are highly desirable. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable record of senior leadership in a comparable organisation with a track record of building effective teams and empowering and motivating staff. The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of financial imperatives needed to ensure long-term organisational sustainability and have a demonstrated capacity to lead and develop initiatives within a strategic vision and mission framework. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion, and to developing people within an organisation. Experience in the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage.
