Hallfield School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Management Accountant with relevant experience, strong Excel, communication and collaboration skills, to support the Director of Finance & Operations in the preparation and review of budgets, management accounts, year-end preparation and audits.
Experience in management accounts and working with budget holders is essential. Previous experience supervising other members of a team would be beneficial.
This opportunity would suit someone looking for a first move out of practice into industry, who is a qualified accountant or qualified by experience. We would also be open to hearing from part qualified individuals looking to gain their full qualification whilst in post.
This role will be predominantly office based with some opportunity for remote working following a successful induction and handover over process.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preparation of monthly management accounts
* Monitoring of the budgets across the school and working closely with budget holders to manage areas of overspend
* Taking ownership of the onboarding and development of the new finance system
* Working closely with the Director of Finance and Operation on the preparation of board papers; with the potential of presenting to the board at committee meetings
* Review of the outsourced catering finance reports to manage and highlight areas of overspend
* Providing over sight of the finance operations and identifying areas to improve efficiency with processing
What we are looking for:
* A qualified / part qualified or qualified by experience Management Accountant, with relevant experience
* Proven experience in financial reporting and in the preparation of management accounts, forecasts and budgets
* Good working knowledge of various accounts packages
* Confident in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills and the ability to quickly learn new management information systems
* Able to understand interpret and communicate financial data at all levels
* Excellent collaboration and communication skills
* Excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills
* Exceptional attention to detail
* Able to work on own initiative and motivate and direct others and support with the line management of the team, as required
* Able to demonstrate a commitment to the School’s values and strategic goals
* A genuine interest in working within the education sector
* Whilst previous experience working in an independent school would be advantageous, it is not essential
